Interview with the Founders

It’s no coincidence that Florian Bodenmann and Fabio Donnaloia developed the online platform job.rocks together. As an economist specializing in informatics and a former Swiss managing director of the promotion agency CPM, Florian and Fabio know the job market and its digital possibilities inside out.

How did you come up with the idea to create an online portal for event job planning and mediation?
fabio

I spent more than five years as the managing director of a large promotion agency searching for software that could cover the entire administrative process of personnel planning, from recruitment to payroll. I was always aware that with the right system, we could work internally about 5–20% more efficiently.

florian

For my master’s thesis, I wanted to solve a real problem, which led me to develop a personnel scheduling software. I conducted around 20 interviews, including one with Fabio, who was precisely looking for software in this area. The project then grew more comprehensive, and now we have a very flexible solution where employers can freely choose modules based on their needs.

Why would you, if you were running an event location or offering event services, use job.rocks for your personnel planning?

Working with job.rocks is fun, and its operation is very intuitive, which was a priority during development. Employees in planning and recruitment can spend more time with customers and staff thanks to job.rocks. Instead of using emails, lists, WhatsApp, various software, and the phone, all you now need is job.rocks and a phone.

Additionally, job.rocks incurs no costs during periods when the software is not in use. You only pay for the tool when you need it, with no other expenses.

Assuming your platform isn’t entirely non-profit, how and where does job.rocks generate revenue?

job.rocks operates on a freemium model. Many features, including a marketplace for recruiting employees, are completely free. The additional modules offer significant benefits that users won’t want to miss.

Besides the free marketplace for employees and employers, we offer software extensions for job scheduling, which are charged per job processed. However, users can register for this extension without cost—it only incurs expenses when used for job scheduling. Additionally, companies that don’t want to hire temporary staff themselves can outsource this task to us.

Finally, a look into the future: what is your vision for job.rocks, and where should the platform stand in five years?

In five years, we aim to be the go-to platform in Switzerland for those who want to work flexibly for various employers, whenever and wherever they choose.

Correspondingly, the benefit for employers will also be significant—they will find an ever-growing pool of employees and can deploy them themselves as needed.

With over a decade of experience in various IT fields, from DevOps to hands-on development, Valdrin is a valuable sparring partner. His dedication to delivering high-quality, rigorously tested software solutions and his ability to tackle complex challenges set him apart. Valdrin grew up in Austria and enjoys spending his free time traveling, exploring scenic landscapes, repairing broken electronics, and working on his car. These hobbies reflect his passion for precision and technical challenges.

Musa Sejdiu Intern

Musa is a student at AAB College and is doing an internship at job.rocks. His goal is to become a full-stack developer, and he enjoys working with front-end and back-end technologies. When he’s not coding, Musa is a passionate basketball player with four gold medals from tournaments, and he loves video games and racing simulations.

Bleona Zenelaj Back End Developer

Lona is an experienced backend developer who graduated in Software and Computer Engineering from the University of Pristina. Her passion for challenges and continuous learning drives her to deliver robust and innovative solutions. In her free time, Lona enjoys traveling and watching movies.

Andrea Hegenbarth testing & Quality Assurance

Andrea is an experienced QA expert for IT systems, specializing in retail. She successfully completed her studies as a certified business economist at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences (HfWU). Her passion is animals, especially horses and dogs.

Bleona Sejdiu Lead Software Engineer

Bleona joined job.rocks during her studies and has worked her way up to Lead Developer thanks to her outstanding organizational skills and development talent. Above all, Bleona learns incredibly quickly. She holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from AAB College, and the world is waiting to be discovered by her.

Arben Thaqi Co-CEO, Founder

Arben brings extensive experience as a project manager in various fields, ranging from the energy sector to telecommunications and insurance, where he has successfully led numerous projects. He holds an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen and is fascinated by history and geography.

Florian Bodenmann Co-CEO, Founder

Florian is deeply committed to bringing people together and enhancing efficiency in processes. Before joining job.rocks, he worked in the evaluation and administration of various management systems at a reinsurance company. He holds a master’s degree in Business Informatics from ZHAW and is fascinated by the white nights of the North.

Fabio Donnaloia Co-CEO, Founder

Fabio ist immer auf der Suche nach Lösungen, um Prozesse zu optimieren, um so Wachstum zu fördern und qualitativ hochwertige Ergebnisse effizienter und mit geringerem Aufwand zu erreichen. Seine Begeisterung für flexible Arbeitsformen begann, als er während seines Studiums als Promotor Gald dazu verdiente und setzte sich fort in seiner Rolle als Standchef am Automobilsalon in Genf und später als Managing Partner bei einer der grössten weltweit tätigen Promotionsagenturen sowie als Gründer von job.rocks. Fabio besitzt einen Abschluss als lic.oec. von der Universität St. Gallen und pflegt die Verbindung zu seine zweite Heimat Apulien in Süditalien.
